To get a job at Notion in 2026, apply through its Ashby job board and then read Notion’s own interview guide for your role. Notion publishes these guides, and they set out each round. For software engineers that means a talent screen, a live coding assessment, four panel interviews and a final conversation with a leader. On 4 October 2026 Notion listed 137 open roles, four of them in its Hyderabad office. This guide covers those stages, the in-office rule, what Notion says about AI, and how to prepare.

Key takeaways

  • Notion had 137 openings on 4 October 2026. Sales was the largest group (44) and Engineering had 16. Four roles were in Hyderabad, India.
  • Notion publishes interview guides. Its software engineering process has an initial talent interview, a live coding assessment, a four-part panel and a final interview with a leader, followed by reference and background checks.
  • Notion calls itself an in-person company. Employees are expected in the office on three “Anchor Days”: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
  • Every posting on 4 October 2026 included a note saying Notion expects employees to use AI as a real collaborator in their work. Some roles require AI fluency explicitly.

Where Notion is hiring now

Notion lists its roles on Ashby, and its careers page links there. The public feed showed 137 openings on 4 October 2026. By team: Sales (44), Engineering (16), Outcomes Architect (14), People (12), Marketing (11), Early Career (9) and Finance (8), plus smaller groups in customer experience, security, legal, design and data science. By location: San Francisco (66), New York (16), Dublin (16), Tokyo (15), Paris (6), Seoul (5), London (5), Hyderabad (4), Munich (3) and Sydney (1).

The four Hyderabad roles were:

  • Software Engineer, Infrastructure: the Hyderabad infrastructure team builds Notion’s internal async task runner and its configuration management platform. The post asks for at least four years of experience and a good grasp of distributed systems trade-offs.
  • Software Engineer, Developer Experience: a senior role (over 10 years of experience). The team owns AI experiences for developers, local and remote development environments, builds and CI, deploys and testing.
  • Forward Deployed Engineer, India: 3 to 6 years in backend, data or integration engineering, technical consulting or a similar field. It asks for strong Python and covers customer engagements across APAC.
  • Product Support Manager: leads a team of product support specialists in Hyderabad. It asks for 8+ years in product support, including 3+ years managing a team.

Notion’s other 133 roles were outside India. Openings move quickly, so check the live list on our Notion jobs page, which pulls from the official feed.

Notion in India: the Hyderabad office

Notion’s India story started with an acquisition. In a February 2024 Notion blog post, Hyderabad site lead Chaitanya Narra wrote that Notion acquired Automate, a local API-integration company, in August 2021. Automate’s 30-person team became the start of Notion’s India engineering presence. By early 2024 the office had grown to 50 people and moved into a new space in Hyderabad’s HITEC City technology district.

The same post said the team’s focus was “the 3 I’s”: imports, integrations and ingestion, that is, getting data into Notion from other tools. It was also building quality assurance, customer experience, monetisation and infrastructure teams. The current openings fit that picture, with infrastructure, developer experience, support leadership and a forward-deployed engineer. The post listed free daily lunches, commute reimbursement, learning and development grants and wellness allowances among the office perks.

What Notion looks for

Notion’s careers page lists four values:

  • Customer in every room: Notion describes itself as a tool company that exists to help customers do their life’s work.
  • Own the outcome: taking initiative instead of waiting for direction.
  • Why not today: speed and shared urgency.
  • Direct and kind: being transparent and caring at the same time.

These have changed over time. In February 2023, Notion’s chief people officer Maryanne Brown Caughey described an earlier set that included being “pace setters” and “truth seekers.” Prepare for the current list, which is the one on the careers page today. Her post also explains Notion’s approach. It hires for craft, people who give their best without being pushed. It treats reference checks as a real predictor of success rather than a formality. It wants interviews to feel like a conversation, not an interrogation. She also wrote that co-founder and CEO Ivan Zhao was involved in nearly all hiring decisions at the time.

Job posts add a newer expectation: AI. Every posting we checked on 4 October 2026 included “A note on AI.” It says Notion does not need deep AI expertise in every role, but expects everyone to be curious and to use AI as a real collaborator. Where AI fluency is a core requirement, the post says so. The New Grad software engineer post, for example, asks candidates to stay current with tools such as Codex and Claude Code.

The hiring process for engineers

Notion’s public Software Engineering Interviews guide describes the process. Each engineering track follows this structure, with track-specific preparation notes inside the guide:

  1. Initial interview: a conversation with someone from Notion’s talent team about your experience, what you want next, and what Notion is working on.
  2. Technical assessment: a live coding exercise with a Notion engineer, building a solution to a real-world problem.
  3. Panel interviews: two 60-minute coding interviews, a 60-minute technical interview where you design a piece of software or a system to a rough spec, and a 60-minute career history interview about your biggest achievements, challenges and how you worked with others.
  4. Final interview: a discussion with a member of the leadership team about your past experience, values and motivations. Notion suggests reading its operating values first.
  5. References and checks: reference checks, with every offer contingent on a background check that includes employment verification.

Notion’s main Interviewing at Notion page adds practical points. Most interviews take place over Google Meet, and your recruiter will tell you if Notion wants to meet in person. You will get your interviewers’ names in advance, so you can look them up. For interview days longer than three hours, Notion says it tries to schedule a break. It also says it likes behavioural questions such as “tell me about a time when” and will follow up to find out exactly what you owned and delivered.

The hiring process for business roles

For sales, marketing, finance, people and other business roles, Notion’s business roles guide describes this process:

  1. Recruiter interview (30 to 45 minutes): a short overview of your background as it relates to the role.
  2. Hiring manager interview (30 to 45 minutes): how your past teams worked, what went well, and examples of recent work you led end to end. Some roles include an assignment before or after this round.
  3. Virtual onsite: a role-related interview with a future teammate, a career history interview with the hiring manager, and a partnership interview with someone from another team. Manager candidates also have an interview about their leadership style.
  4. Final interview with a C-suite executive: your values, motivations and why you want Notion.
  5. Reference checks, then a background check that includes employment verification.

The business guide links to more detailed guides for some roles, including customer success, enterprise technical support, several EMEA sales roles and solutions engineering. If your role has one, read it before your first call.

Office rules, pay and early careers

Notion is clear that it is not a remote-first employer. The careers page says it requires office attendance three days a week, and its interview guide calls these “Anchor Days”: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Hyderabad postings repeat this, saying the team works from the office on those days because it does its best thinking together in person. If you need a fully remote job, Notion is probably not the right fit.

Notion’s US postings show salary ranges for San Francisco and New York. The Software Engineer, Early Career post (for people with less than two years’ experience) lists $130,000 to $150,000. The New Grad post lists $135,000 to $155,000, and a Product Infrastructure engineering post lists a $150,000 to $200,000 base. Notion says pay depends on location, scope and experience, and that offers can fall outside the range. The four Hyderabad posts did not show a range, so raise pay with your recruiter early. Our in-hand salary calculator can turn an Indian offer into a monthly figure.

For students and recent graduates, the Early Career team listed nine roles on 4 October 2026. They included Software Engineer internships for Winter and Summer 2027, a Mobile internship, a Data Science internship, Early Career and New Grad engineering roles, and Business Development Representative roles in New York and San Francisco. All the engineering ones were in San Francisco.

How to stand out

  • Use Notion’s own guide. Notion publishes its interview structure. Candidates who prepare for each named round, especially the career history interview, will look far more organised than those who prepare only for coding.
  • Prepare ownership stories. Notion says it wants to know what you owned and what you delivered. For each major project, be ready to say what you decided, what you built and what changed because of you.
  • Be concise. Notion’s guide recommends covering fewer things in more detail and avoiding a “whirlwind tour” of your CV.
  • Show how you use AI. Given the note on AI in every posting, have one or two real examples of using AI tools to do better or faster work, and be honest about where they fell short.
  • Prepare your referees early. Notion treats references as a real signal, so let former managers know they may be contacted.
  • Use the product properly. Notion calls itself a tool company. Build something real in Notion before your interviews and come with specific feedback.

Bottom line

Notion is unusually open about how it hires. The interview guides spell out each round, so there is little excuse to walk in unprepared. In India, the Hyderabad office is small but has real engineering scope and a three-day office routine. Read the guide for your role, build your examples around ownership and the current values, and apply to the specific team whose work matches yours.
