How to Get a Job at Airbnb in 2026: Process, Rounds and India Roles
Airbnb lists 154 open roles, six in India. Here is its hiring process, the core values interview, India pay ranges and the Bengaluru and Gurugram set-up.
To get a job at Airbnb in 2026, apply for a specific role on careers.airbnb.com, match your stories to its four core values, and prepare for a values interview that sits alongside the skills rounds. As of 4 October 2026 Airbnb lists 154 open roles worldwide, six of them in India (Bengaluru, Gurugram and India-remote). This guide covers where it is hiring, what the India set-up looks like, what Airbnb publishes about pay and remote work, and what candidates report about the interviews.

Key takeaways
- Airbnb’s job board listed 154 openings on 4 October 2026. Software Engineering was the largest team (41 roles), and six roles were based in India.
- Airbnb’s Bengaluru tech hub was announced in March 2022. Business Standard reported in May 2026 that Airbnb had leased about 46,000 sq ft in Gurugram’s DLF Cyber City for a global capability centre.
- Three of the six India postings show a pay range. They run from ₹16.1 lakh to ₹28 lakh a year, depending on the role.
- Airbnb’s four core values (Champion the Mission, Be a Host, Embrace the Adventure, Be a Cereal Entrepreneur) appear on its careers site. Candidate reports describe a separate values interview that can decide the outcome.
- Airbnb says its recruiters email only from @airbnb.com or @ext.airbnb.com addresses and never ask candidates for money.
Where Airbnb is hiring right now
Airbnb publishes its openings through a public Greenhouse job board, which feeds careers.airbnb.com. On 4 October 2026 the board listed 154 roles. The biggest groups were Software Engineering (41), Community Support (19), Product Management (14) and Business Development (9). Analytics, finance, trust and safety, and data science made up much of the rest. Most roles are in the United States, and many US postings are marked remote-eligible. There are smaller clusters in Canada, Brazil, Japan, Singapore, the UK and continental Europe.
India had six roles that day:
- Bengaluru: Senior Analyst, Advanced Analytics; Senior Business Solutions Engineer (BizTech, LegalTech); Senior Data Engineer (BizTech).
- India remote (Bengaluru-linked): Senior Staff Software Engineer, Payments. The post says the role is “eligible anywhere within India” and may include occasional office visits or offsites.
- Gurugram: Market Manager (supply growth in India) and Supervisor, Investigations and Resolutions and Law Enforcement Operations.
These are mostly senior roles. The Senior Data Engineer post asks for 9+ years of experience with a bachelor’s or master’s degree (or 6+ years with a PhD). The Payments role asks for 15+ years. The analytics role asks for 6+ years and an advanced degree in a quantitative field, and the Gurugram supervisor role wants 10+ years in fraud, risk or trust operations. Airbnb in India: the Bengaluru tech hub and Gurugram
Airbnb announced a technology hub in Bengaluru in March 2022, according to Airbnb’s India newsroom. It said the hub would start with room for a few hundred people and grow later. Its job would be to build technical foundations for the platform and experiences for guests and hosts. Co-founder Nathan Blecharczyk called India an incredibly important market for Airbnb.
Airbnb’s engineering blog gives a sense of how the centre works. In a profile on airbnb.tech, Bengaluru engineer Veerabahu Chandran describes it as Airbnb’s first tech centre outside its headquarters. Teams there work on the same roadmap, codebase and tech stack as head office. He calls it a capability centre rather than a delivery centre, meaning the teams own problems from discovery through to shipping. The current analytics posting adds detail: it describes an “Analytics Centre of Excellence” based in India that supports payments, trust, customer support, hosting and other business areas.
Gurugram, near Delhi, is the other India base. Airbnb has not put out its own announcement of a Gurugram tech centre that we could find. What is on record is a Business Standard report from 30 May 2026, based on lease documents accessed by the data firm Propstack. It says Airbnb leased 46,437 sq ft in DLF Cyber City for its global capability centre (GCC), for five years from 1 October 2025, at a starting rent of about ₹61.53 lakh a month. The same report cites Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky telling PTI that the company would keep investing in India for the long term. Treat the GCC’s scope as reported, not officially described. The Gurugram roles currently listed are in growth and trust and safety operations, not engineering.
What Airbnb looks for
Airbnb’s Life at Airbnb page lists four core values:
- Champion the Mission: working with the community to create connection and belonging.
- Be a Host: being caring, open and encouraging to everyone you work with.
- Embrace the Adventure: curiosity, resilience and a belief that people can grow.
- Be a Cereal Entrepreneur: being determined and creative about turning bold ideas into reality.
The job posts add the practical bar. They are written in a consistent format (“The Community You Will Join”, “The Difference You Will Make”, “Your Expertise”), so it is easy to see what a team needs. The India engineering posts stress cross-functional work with product, design and operations, plus mentoring. The Payments post describes a “player-coach” who switches between hands-on work and coaching others. The analytics post asks candidates to turn data into narratives that business leaders can act on.
The hiring process: what is official and what candidates report
Airbnb does not publish a single stage-by-stage hiring process on its careers site. The details below come from a third-party source and are labelled as such. The process can differ by team, level and country, and your recruiter’s description is the one to rely on.
For software engineers, interview-practice platform interviewing.io says its outline is based on conversations with current and former Airbnb interviewers, cross-checked against Glassdoor and its own mock-interview data. It describes this sequence (candidate and interviewer reports, not an official Airbnb process; the page is labelled 2024):
- Recruiter call (about 30 minutes): your background, why Airbnb, and what you want next.
- Technical phone screen (about an hour): run in CoderPad. Candidates are expected to write working code that runs, not pseudocode. A second screen sometimes follows if the first gave too little signal.
- Onsite (reported as 5 to 7 rounds): coding, system design, a behavioural interview about past projects and teamwork, and values-focused “host” interviews run by people outside engineering. Senior candidates reportedly get fewer coding rounds and more design.
- Team matching: conversations with one to four hiring managers after a successful onsite, because the engineering process is reported to be centralised.
The same source says the values interviews matter a great deal. Doing well technically will not, by these accounts, rescue a weak values round. For non-engineering roles we found no reliable public description of the rounds, so expect them to vary and ask your recruiter early.

Pay, remote work and early-career routes
Many Airbnb postings include an annual base pay range, and three of the six India posts do. The Gurugram Market Manager post shows ₹17.5 lakh to ₹25 lakh a year. (A lakh is ₹100,000, so ₹17.5 lakh is ₹1.75 million; Indian job ads often write this as 17.5 LPA, “lakh per annum”.) The Bengaluru Senior Analyst post shows ₹19.6 lakh to ₹28 lakh, and the Gurugram supervisor post ₹16.1 lakh to ₹21.1 lakh. Airbnb’s India posts say these ranges are annual, include allowances, and can change. They also say a role may be eligible for bonus or incentives, equity, benefits and Employee Travel Credits. The Bengaluru engineering posts we checked did not show a range. To estimate monthly take-home pay from a base figure, try our in-hand salary calculator.
Airbnb’s “Live and Work Anywhere” policy shapes where you can sit. Chesky announced it on 28 April 2022 in an Airbnb newsroom post. Employees could work from home or an office, move anywhere in their country without a pay change, and work from other countries for up to 90 days a year in each location. The current careers page puts it as five principles: work from home or an office; live anywhere in your country of employment without a pay change; work temporarily from anywhere in the world with company approval and where regulations allow; meet up regularly; and work in a highly coordinated way.
This works within legal limits. US remote-eligible posts say you must live in a state where Airbnb has a registered entity. The India Payments post is open “anywhere within India.” Some roles are tied to a location. For example, a San Francisco curator role says the hire must be based there. The careers page lists quarterly travel credits, an annual education stipend and a quarterly Live and Work Anywhere allowance among its benefits, but notes that benefits vary by location.
Internships and early-career routes
Airbnb’s internship page lists an APAC “Operations & Central Functions” internship that includes India. It is open to current university students and recent graduates with less than a year of full-time experience. It runs for six months and covers Public Policy, Communications, Legal, Finance, Global Operations and Analytics. Airbnb says it aims to hire interns full-time after the programme where possible, but that conversion depends on performance and business need.
The Connect Engineering Apprenticeship is aimed at bootcamp graduates, self-taught coders and people with associate degrees. It is based in San Francisco (hybrid), lasts about five months, and normally opens for applications in April. The page showed applications as closed on 4 October 2026. The board also had one “Early Career Programs” listing that day, based in Brazil.

How to stand out
- Build a story for each value. Interviewing.io says the values interviews are run by people outside your function. Prepare clear examples, from work or life, of hospitality, resilience and turning an ambitious idea into results.
- Write code that runs. If candidate reports of a CoderPad screen are accurate, practise writing complete, runnable solutions in your strongest language rather than sketches.
- Read the team section of the post. India posts name the actual team (Fraud & Safety analytics, BizTech LegalTech, Payments community partner experiences). Make your CV and your opening answer about that team’s problems.
- Be honest about your level. India openings currently need 6 to 15 years of experience. If you are earlier in your career, the internship route or a later opening may fit better than a stretch application.
- Plan your notice period. Long notice periods are common in India. Check what an early release would cost with our notice period buyout calculator before you negotiate a start date.
Avoid recruiting scams
Every Airbnb posting we checked has the same warning. Real roles are posted on careers.airbnb.com, and recruiters write only from @airbnb.com or @ext.airbnb.com addresses. Recruiters will never ask for your Social Security number, bank details, passport or payment-app details during interviews. Airbnb also says it will never ask you to pay a fee, send money, deposit a cheque or buy equipment such as a laptop. If an “Airbnb recruiter” asks for any of this, stop replying.

Bottom line
Airbnb is hiring in 2026, but selectively. In India the openings are few and mostly senior, split between Bengaluru (engineering and analytics), Gurugram (operations, with a reported new GCC lease) and one India-remote payments role. Applying through the official site, tailoring your examples to the four values and preparing properly for the values round are the parts you control. The rest depends on timing, so check the board regularly and apply when a role fits your experience.
FAQ
Does Airbnb hire software engineers in India?
Yes. On 4 October 2026 it listed a Senior Data Engineer and a Senior Business Solutions Engineer in Bengaluru and a Senior Staff Software Engineer (Payments) open anywhere in India. All three ask for many years of experience.
Is Airbnb’s Gurugram office a tech centre?
Airbnb has not described one publicly that we could find. Business Standard reported in May 2026 that Airbnb leased about 46,437 sq ft in DLF Cyber City for a global capability centre. Current Gurugram postings are in market growth and trust and safety operations.
How much does Airbnb pay in India?
Three India posts show annual base ranges: ₹17.5 to 25 lakh (Market Manager), ₹19.6 to 28 lakh (Senior Analyst) and ₹16.1 to 21.1 lakh (supervisor). The posts say ranges include allowances and may change. Bonus, equity and travel credits can be extra, depending on the role.
Can I work remotely at Airbnb from India?
Some roles allow it. The Payments role is listed as India remote, “eligible anywhere within India”, with occasional office visits or offsites. Others are tied to Bengaluru or Gurugram, so check the location line in each post.
What is the Airbnb core values interview?
Candidate reports describe values-focused interviews, run by people outside your function, that test fit with Airbnb’s four values. A poor result there can reportedly sink an offer even after strong technical rounds. Airbnb’s public pages list the values but do not describe the interview itself.
