Apollo.io is a sales intelligence and engagement platform. Sales teams use it to search a large database of companies and business contacts by filters such as industry, size and job title, find verified emails and phone numbers, and then reach out through email sequences and a built-in dialer. It also handles meeting scheduling, call recording, CRM enrichment and, increasingly, AI research and AI-written outreach. It has extensions for Gmail and Salesforce.
The company was set up in 2015 and its co-founder, Tim Zheng, is chief executive. Zheng has said he built the first version for his own prospecting after other tools fell short, and later spun it off as its own company.
In August 2023 Apollo raised a $100 million Series D led by Bain Capital Ventures, with Sequoia Capital, Tribe Capital and Nexus Venture Partners, at a $1.6 billion valuation, TechCrunch reported. At the time Apollo said it worked with more than 500,000 companies and had grown revenue ninefold in two years. Its pricing page now says more than 600,000 companies use it.
Pricing is per seat and runs on credits, which pay for actions such as revealing an email or phone number. Unused credits expire at the end of each billing cycle. There is a free plan, and annual billing saves 24% according to the pricing page.
One caution for users in India and Europe: tools like Apollo hold personal contact data, so check that your outreach meets your local rules, such as India’s DPDP Act or the GDPR.
We have not used Apollo.io for this page. It brings together Apollo.io’s own website and pricing page and reporting from the outlets linked under Sources, and says where each fact comes from.
