To get a job at Stripe in 2026, apply to a specific role on its careers site and expect three broad stages: a recruiter screen, a technical or skills-based assessment, and interviews with the team you would join. That is how Stripe describes its own process. Stripe hires heavily outside the US. On 4 October 2026, its busiest hiring locations included Singapore, Dublin, London and Bengaluru, and 45 postings were linked to its Bengaluru office.

100Xfounder is an independent site. This guide is not official, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by Stripe. Always check details with the official careers site and your recruiter.

Key takeaways

  • Stripe listed 716 open roles on its official Greenhouse job board on 4 October 2026. Forty-five were tied to India, almost all in Bengaluru.
  • The India roles include staff-level engineering for payments and core infrastructure, a software engineering internship, a six-month operations apprenticeship, and many risk, support, finance and legal roles.
  • Stripe says most processes include a recruiter screen, a skills assessment and team interviews. Timelines range from a few weeks to longer, depending on role, level and location.
  • Office-assigned staff spend at least half of each month in the office or with users. Stripe Delivery Center roles in Bengaluru are fully office-based.
  • For early-career roles, Stripe says GPA matters and that internships do not guarantee a full-time offer.

Where Stripe is hiring right now

We checked Stripe’s public Greenhouse job board on 4 October 2026. It listed 716 openings. Location labels vary from posting to posting (“Bengaluru”, “Bangalore”, “IN-Bengaluru” and so on), so the counts below group the obvious variants. Singapore had 50 roles, Dublin about 47, London about 30, and Bengaluru 45 when every India-linked posting is counted. Other active locations included Chicago, Mexico City, Toronto, San Francisco, Seattle, New York and Sydney, and some US roles are listed as remote.

Stripe hires across sales, operations, engineering, data science, design, marketing, finance and legal. The largest single teams on the board were EMEA account executives, global operations and university hiring. You can follow the live list on our Stripe jobs page.

Stripe’s India and Bengaluru hiring

Stripe has not published a separate India hiring announcement that we could find. Its job postings, though, show a sizeable Bengaluru team and clear plans. A Staff Engineer posting for the India Payments team says Stripe is expanding its payments footprint in India and wants someone to set the technical direction for its next payment products in the market. That includes integrating with local payment rails, routing, reconciliation and settlement. A Staff Engineer posting in Core Infrastructure calls the role a “senior technical anchor” for that organisation in India, with influence across the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

By our count, the 45 India-linked postings on 4 October broke down roughly as follows:

  • Engineering and data (about 10). Staff engineers for Payments, Core Infrastructure, Revenue Experiences and Support Experiences; software engineers for Internal Systems, Stripe Data Pipeline and data orchestration; an engineering manager for accounting products; a data science manager for risk; and a software engineering intern.
  • Operations, risk and support (about 19). Fraud and credit-risk operations, sanctions, product and voice support, tech operations, monetisation and contracting operations, plus several team-lead and manager roles. Some of these are weekend or night shifts.
  • Finance, tax and legal (about 10). Head of finance operations, India tax lead, legal entity controllers, accounts receivable, compliance and legal operations.
  • Other (about 6). Sales Leader, India; Solutions Architect (India); marketing operations; and people operations.

Stripe also runs a Stripe Delivery Center in Bengaluru. Its operations postings say these roles are fully office-based, as are the equivalent roles in Mexico City and Dublin. For more options in the city, see our engineering jobs in Bengaluru.

What Stripe looks for

Stripe’s careers pages are blunt about fit. Its “Compatibility” page is titled “Working at Stripe is not for everyone”. Its main points:

  • Rigorous thinkers who can be wrong. Stripe wants people who are not afraid of being wrong, who will back proposals they first opposed, and who support decisions “with numbers and narrative”.
  • Generalists who learn fast. Stripe says most of its people don’t come from finance. It wants people who can learn a new field quickly and work beyond their formal remit.
  • Mission and users. It asks candidates whether they see entrepreneurship and free markets as forces for progress. “Users first” is a core principle, and Stripe says everyone at the company talks to users.
  • Operating principles. These include creating with craft and beauty, moving with urgency and focus, collaborating “egolessly”, staying curious, and obsessing over talent.
  • Kind but bold. Stripe says people who thrive in high-conflict workplaces often don’t enjoy it there. It tries to combine kindness with measured risk-taking.

Stripe also expects you to use AI. Its compatibility FAQ says every employee has access to AI tools, including ones built in-house, and that top performers are already much more productive because of them. Its intern posting lists, as a minimum requirement, the ability to use AI tools to speed up development while still checking every output critically.

Stripe also has a few rituals that say something about its culture. Friday Fireside is a weekly company-wide forum hosted by co-founders Patrick and John Collison. It features unfiltered feedback from a Stripe user, demos of recent work and outside speakers. Every December, staff gather for Convergence, a full-day event that dates back to 2014. Mentioning these won’t win you an offer. Understanding why a company would put user feedback in front of everyone each week will help you answer “why Stripe” more convincingly.

The hiring process

Stripe’s official FAQ is short: most processes include a recruiter screen, a technical or skills-based assessment, and a series of interviews with the team you would be joining. Timelines vary by role, level and location. Some take a few weeks and others longer. Stripe says it tries to move quickly and give clear feedback at every stage.

  1. Application. Apply through the careers site. Each posting separates minimum requirements from preferred qualifications. Stripe encourages you to apply if you meet the minimum, and calls the preferred list “a bonus, not a requirement”.
  2. Recruiter screen. This covers your background, motivation and logistics.
  3. Technical or skills assessment. For engineers this is coding. For other roles it is a work-style exercise relevant to the job.
  4. Team interviews. You meet the team you would join. The hiring manager discusses in-office expectations for the role during the process.
  5. Offer. Pay and terms vary by location. Where you get a range, read the posting and ask the recruiter what it covers.

Engineering rounds: what candidates report

Stripe does not publish a breakdown of its engineering rounds. The interview-prep site Aced compiles candidate and interviewer reports. These describe a recruiter screen, a live-coding technical screen, and then an onsite loop that includes general coding, a debugging round (often called “bug bash” or “bug squash”), an integration round that involves working with an unfamiliar API or codebase, system design and a behavioural interview. These are candidate accounts, not an official description, and the mix can differ by level and team.

The reported formats fit what Stripe’s postings ask for: reading unfamiliar systems, writing production-quality code with tests, and clear written communication. The intern posting notes that Stripe works mostly in Ruby, Java, JavaScript, Go and Scala, but says strong fundamentals matter more than knowing a particular language.

Early-career routes: internships, new grads and apprentices

Stripe’s emerging talent programme covers internships, apprenticeships and early-career roles. It hires new graduates, interns and apprentices across engineering, product, data science, design, finance, operations and go-to-market teams, from bachelor’s to PhD level. Interview scheduling for internships usually follows local academic calendars. Full-time and apprenticeship roles are hired on a rolling basis, and Stripe recommends applying early.

  • Software Engineer, Intern (Bengaluru). The minimum requirements include studying for a bachelor’s or master’s in computer science, maths or a related field, programming experience from projects or coursework, and experience of multi-person projects or open source.
  • Operations Associate, Apprenticeship (Bengaluru). This is a six-month programme starting in January 2027, run under India’s Apprentices Act 1961. It is open to current students and 2026 graduates, and it is office-based.
  • GPA and college. Stripe says GPA matters and is part of its review. It also recruits from schools where it has seen strong performance, but adds that exceptional people come from everywhere.
  • Conversion. Internships can lead to a full-time role, but there is no guarantee. Stripe says it holds interns to the same bar as everyone else and that conversion is selective.

Office policy and pay

Stripe’s postings say office-assigned staff in most locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of each month in their local office or with users. This varies by role, team and location, and Stripe Delivery Center roles in Bengaluru are 100% in the office. Stripe’s careers pages don’t set out a general visa sponsorship policy, so if you would need to relocate, raise it with the recruiter early. Confirm anything to do with immigration with a qualified adviser.

We have not quoted salaries for India roles, because the postings we checked did not publish pay. If you are comparing an offer with your current package, our salary hike calculator shows the percentage jump, and our in-hand salary calculator converts CTC (the total annual package Indian employers quote) into monthly take-home pay.

How to stand out

  • Show you can learn a strange domain. Stripe says the financial system is “made of people and computers”. Pick an example where you learned an unfamiliar system fast and improved it.
  • Practise debugging, not just algorithms. Candidate reports point to debugging and integration exercises. Practise reading someone else’s code, running tests and following documentation under time pressure.
  • Write well. Postings repeatedly ask for clear written communication. Keep your application answers short, specific and backed by numbers.
  • Know the India context for local roles. For payments and operations roles, be ready to talk about Indian payment methods, rules and fraud patterns.
  • Talk about AI honestly. Expect questions about how you use AI tools and how you check their output.
  • Check recruiter contact. Stripe says recruiters contact candidates only through LinkedIn or @stripe.com email addresses, and never ask for payment, financial details or logins. You can verify any outreach by emailing careers@stripe.com.

Why it matters

Stripe’s careers page says businesses on Stripe processed $1.9 trillion in payments in 2025, about 1.7% of global GDP. That scale is why its engineering and risk roles are hard to get, and why they are good for learning. For Indian candidates, Bengaluru is one of the company’s biggest hiring locations. The India Payments and Core Infrastructure postings also suggest that some senior technical ownership now sits in India, not only support work.
