Paytm, the payments and financial services company, hires through a single public job board and has said it plans to keep adding people until March 2027. This guide explains where it is hiring, how applications move, what candidates report about interviews, and how to prepare. 100Xfounder is an independent site and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Paytm.
Where Paytm is hiring right now
Paytm’s careers page sends applicants to its job board on Lever, jobs.lever.co/paytm. When we checked Paytm’s Lever job board on 4 October 2026, it listed 173 open postings, 161 of them in India. Counts change daily, so check our live Paytm jobs page for the current list.
The busiest teams on the board that day were:
- Lending and Lending Collections: the largest group, mostly sales, team-lead and area-manager roles across many cities.
- Paytm Ads: key account managers, partnerships, campaign management and an ads product manager.
- Inference and Agentic AI: enterprise sales, go-to-market, pre-sales solution architects and a product manager for AI agents aimed at small businesses.
- Paytm Money, Insurance, Travel, UPI and User Growth: product managers, growth managers and analysts.
By city, Noida had 83 India postings, Mumbai 22 and Bengaluru 16, followed by Hyderabad, Gurugram and Ahmedabad with three each. The rest were spread across more than 25 smaller cities, mostly for field sales and collections. Almost every India role was marked on-site; the feed showed only two remote roles.
The board also uses two employment labels. “Full-time Employment” and “On-roll” both appear; on-roll is an Indian HR term for being on the company’s own payroll rather than a contractor’s. The only internships listed were in talent acquisition.
There is a bigger plan behind these openings. In June 2026 Paytm said it would hire about 4,000 people by March 2027 across product, technology, AI and senior leadership, according to Outlook Business, which put its existing workforce at roughly 40,000. Only three India postings sat in the Technology department on 4 October, all senior backend roles, so engineering openings may arrive in waves rather than all at once.
What Paytm looks for
Paytm’s careers page says it wants people with a passion for innovation who want to build products for the future. A 2022 post on its workplace blog describes an entrepreneurial culture in which employees make their own decisions and are encouraged to think like founders.
The clearest signal in 2026 is AI. Founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma has said Paytm will become an AI-first company, and The Hans India reported in July 2025 that it was seeking specialists in AI, machine learning and data science. The job posts reflect this well beyond engineering:
- Backend technical lead posts say Paytm expects engineers to use AI tools actively for architecture design, code reviews, prototyping and productivity.
- A growth and analytics post for Recharges and Utilities asks for daily use of AI assistants such as Claude or ChatGPT for SQL, reporting and analysis, along with the judgement to check AI output and keep business data private.
- A user growth campaign role lists AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini next to CleverTap, and even a customer support associate post prefers candidates with hands-on AI experience.
Most product and growth posts also state an experience band in the title, such as 3–5 or 5–8 years. Analytics posts list SQL, product analytics tools such as Mixpanel or Amplitude, and experimentation design.
The hiring process
Paytm does not publish a standard set of stages or a timeline, so the steps below combine what its job board states with what candidates have reported. Expect the details to vary by team and level.
- Apply on the Lever board. Each posting has its own application form. A footer on the board says Paytm may use AI tools to help review applications, analyse resumes and assess responses, and that final hiring decisions are made by humans.
- Recruiter contact. In one LeetCode Discuss candidate report from a senior software engineer hire in Noida, the candidate said a recruiter called within hours of applying through the direct link. Treat that as one person’s experience, not a norm.
- Online assessment (engineering). Candidate reports describe a timed coding test, which one candidate said was on HackerRank, sometimes with theory questions on Java and algorithms.
- Interviews. Candidate reports for engineering describe two or three interview rounds after the test. We found no reliable public reports for most non-engineering roles.
- Offer. Timelines and offer stages are not published and vary.
Interview rounds by role
Engineering (candidate reports)
Three LeetCode Discuss posts from backend candidates give a consistent picture, though each is a single person’s account:
- A backend developer with about 1.5 years’ experience described a coding assessment, a low-level design round built around a wallet and UPI-style payments system, and a system design round on database locking, isolation levels, caching with Redis and handling failures under load.
- A senior software engineer candidate (November 2024) reported a HackerRank test, a one-hour data structures round, and a 90-minute round covering projects, scalability, monitoring and working with stakeholders.
- A senior backend candidate (January 2026) described three interviews after the test, each opening with a deep discussion of past projects, followed by design patterns, low-level design, distributed systems concepts and a thread-safe cache implementation.
Product, growth and business roles
We could not find enough sourced reports to describe interview rounds for product, growth, sales or collections roles, so the format varies and is best confirmed with your recruiter. The job posts are the best preparation guide: they list the metrics, tools and team sizes each role owns.
How to stand out
- Pick the right team and city. Most roles are on-site and tied to one city, so apply where you can actually work. Noida, Mumbai and Bengaluru hold most of the openings.
- Show how you already use AI. Given how many posts ask for it, give one or two concrete examples, such as a report you automated or a prototype you built faster, and explain how you checked the output.
- Match the experience band. Product and growth titles state the years they want. Apply where your experience fits, or explain the gap in your note.
- Know your projects deeply. Engineering candidates repeatedly report long discussions of past work, including why they chose a database and what impact the project had.
- Prepare payments-flavoured design. Candidate reports mention wallets, transactions, concurrency and caching, which fit Paytm’s core business.
- Learn the product. Use the Paytm app and the business you are applying to, whether that is UPI, Paytm Money, lending or ads, and bring a specific improvement idea.
Referrals, timelines and offers
Paytm’s careers page lists employee referral benefits among its perks, so a referral from a current employee through the official process is worth asking for. Never pay anyone for a referral or a job. Apply only through links on paytm.com or jobs.lever.co/paytm.
Paytm does not publish hiring timelines and candidate accounts differ, so ask your recruiter what to expect at each stage. The careers page also lists competitive pay and equity, an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) and relocation support among its benefits. When an offer arrives, use our in-hand salary calculator to turn the annual CTC (cost to company) into monthly take-home pay. If your current employer has a long notice period, our notice period buyout calculator shows what an early release would cost.
