TinyFolder is a Mac app that adds app folders to the Dock, something the Mac Dock can’t do on its own. You pick a set of apps, pin the folder, and one click opens it right above its Dock tile. The folder’s icon is built from the apps inside, so you can see what it holds at a glance.
Most of the app is about design. A live editor lets you choose glass, colour or texture, icon, list or large-tile layouts, icon size, labels and living effects such as snow and drifting light, with 64 built-in presets. Each folder can also have its own keyboard shortcut. TinyFolder launches apps only: you can’t drop files onto the apps inside a folder, and apps that are running still appear in the Dock, as macOS requires.
There are two editions. The Mac App Store version is limited to one folder in the Dock, because App Store rules only let an app change its own Dock icon. The version downloaded from tinyfolder.app can pin as many folders as you like. TinyFolder is designed and built by Sergey Filkov and launched on Product Hunt on 4 October 2026, finishing #16 for the day with 75 upvotes.
We have not tested TinyFolder ourselves. This page brings together its official site, its Mac App Store listing, its Product Hunt page and the official pages of comparable apps, and says where each fact comes from.
What people use TinyFolder for
- Grouping apps you use once a week into one Dock folder to keep the Dock short
- Replacing Launchpad, which macOS Tahoe removed, with folders you design
- Opening a group of work apps with a keyboard shortcut
The launch story
Sergey Filkov says his Dock kept growing, with apps he opens once a week sitting next to the ones he uses all day. On an iPhone you would make a folder, but the Mac Dock can't. The nearest option was a stack of aliases next to the Trash, and with macOS Tahoe even Launchpad was gone.
So he built TinyFolder: pick your apps, pin the folder, and one click opens it above the tile. He explained the one constraint up front: the App Store sandbox only lets an app change its own Dock icon, so the App Store version gives you one folder, while the version from tinyfolder.app pins as many as you like. It is free to start, needs no account and works offline.

Yes, for one folder with up to four apps, with no time limit and no account. Pro unlocks unlimited folders and the full design tools.
Why does the App Store version allow only one folder?

Can I get a refund?
Website purchases have a 7-day, no-questions money-back guarantee. App Store purchases are refunded through Apple.
Which Macs does it run on?
