Teleport is a security platform for getting into infrastructure: servers, Kubernetes clusters, databases, cloud consoles and internal web apps. Instead of shared passwords, long-lived SSH keys and VPNs, it gives every engineer, machine, workload and, increasingly, AI agent a short-lived cryptographic identity, then grants access based on that identity and records what happened. Its website now calls it the AI infrastructure identity company and groups its products into zero trust access, machine and workload identity, identity governance, identity security and an agentic identity framework.
Teleport’s About page says the company was founded in 2015 and is headquartered in Oakland, California. Its co-founders are Ev Kontsevoy, the CEO, Alexander Klizhentas, the CTO, and Taylor Wakefield, the COO. The legal entity is Gravitational Inc. Teleport began as an open-source project, and the company’s 2022 funding coverage described an open-source access plane combining connectivity, authentication, authorisation and audit.
In May 2022 Teleport announced a $110 million Series C led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with Insight Partners joining existing investors Kleiner Perkins and S28 Capital. DevOps.com reported that the round valued Teleport at $1.1 billion, and the company said it brought total funding to $169 million and that revenue had nearly tripled from 2020 to 2021. In 2026 its homepage carried an announcement of a strategic partnership with Cisco.
Teleport can run as a managed cloud service or self-hosted, on premises or in a hybrid setup. Its pricing page says pricing is usage-based, by active users and protected resources, and gives no list prices. This profile draws on Teleport’s own pages and published reporting. We have not tested the product, and nothing here is paid placement.
