Poddle is a Wii Sports-style pickleball game that runs in a browser tab. Open poddleball.com on any computer or iPad, scan the QR code with your phone, and the phone becomes your paddle: you swing it and the game reads the motion. On a Mac you can use one AirPod as the paddle instead, through a small, free, open-source helper app that passes the AirPod’s motion sensors to the game.
The game reads the swing itself. Speed and reach set the power, direction aims the shot, a scoop lobs it and a wrist cut adds spin. If you turn on your webcam, it tracks where you stand so you can move around the court; the site says the video is never recorded or sent. Without a camera, the game runs you to the ball. You can play Matt the bot at four levels, play friends online with a court code, run knockout tournaments for 4 to 16 players, watch live matches and, if you sign in, earn trophies and ranks.
Poddle was made by Daniel, who started it as a hackathon idea, and launched on Product Hunt on 4 October 2026, finishing #26 for the day with 67 upvotes. It is free, with no ads and no account required.
We have not played Poddle ourselves. This page brings together its official site and privacy policy, its Product Hunt page and the official pages of comparable games, and says where each fact comes from.
What people use Poddle for
- A quick motion-controlled game on a laptop or TV-connected computer without buying a console
- Playing a friend online with a shared court code
- Running a small pickleball tournament for a club or a group of friends
- Practising against a bot at four difficulty levels
The launch story
Daniel says Poddle began as a last-minute hackathon idea: AirPods have motion sensors, so could one work as a pickleball paddle, the way Wii Sports used a remote? It worked better than expected. The team didn't win, but he kept building it and has been playing it with friends at university clubs since.
Most of his time went into making the swing feel right. A motion sensor knows how your hand turns but not where it is, so the game reads the swing itself, and a webcam handles where you stand. Phone support began as a shortcut for testing and stayed, because everyone already has a phone and it gets people playing faster than pairing AirPods.

Frequently asked questions
Is Poddle free?
Yes. Poddle's site says it is free and needs no account. Signing in with Google only adds trophies, ranks and stats across devices.
What do I need to play?
A computer or iPad with a current browser and WebGL, plus an iPhone or Android phone with a gyroscope. A webcam is optional.
Can I use AirPods as the paddle?
Yes, on a Mac running macOS 14 or later with Google Chrome and AirPods Pro, AirPods 3, AirPods 4 or AirPods Max, using the free, open-source Poddle Helper. AirPods 1 and 2 aren't supported.
How do I start a game?
The maker's answer on Product Hunt: press Quickplay in the main menu and it puts you straight into a game against Matt the bot.
Does the webcam record me?
No, according to the site: the camera only works out roughly where you stand, and the video is never recorded, saved or sent. Without a camera the game moves you to the ball automatically.
Will there be other sports?
The maker said on Product Hunt that he is thinking about boxing with two AirPods, a rhythm game and something like Wii Sports swordplay. Nothing has been announced.
