RapidAPI built an API hub: a marketplace where developers could find, test and pay
for thousands of third-party APIs with one account and one key, and where API providers
could list and earn money from their own APIs. Alongside the public marketplace
it sold an enterprise hub that lets companies design, build, test and share APIs
internally and with partners. The company later shortened its name to Rapid. Iddo
Gino founded it and led it as CEO; TechCrunch reported in March 2022 that the marketplace
was used by 4 million developers, after adding a million in the previous year.

## Funding

On 23 March 2022 RapidAPI announced a $150 million Series D led by SoftBank’s Vision
Fund 2 at a $1 billion valuation, with Andreessen Horowitz, M12 (Microsoft’s venture
fund), Viola Growth and others, according to TechCrunch and Globes. Its Series C
a year earlier had valued it at about $355 million. Gino later stepped down as CEO
and was replaced by finance chief Marc Friend.

## Acquisition by Nokia

On 13 November 2024 Nokia announced that it had acquired Rapid’s technology assets,
including what it called the world’s largest API hub, and its research and development
unit. Financial terms were not disclosed. Nokia said it would combine Rapid’s API
hub with its Network as Code platform so telecom operators can offer 5G and 4G network
APIs to Rapid’s developer base. When we checked rapidapi.com in October 2026, the
site described itself as Nokia API Hub, previously known as Rapid.

## Pricing

Using the hub to browse APIs is free; each API on the public marketplace sets its
own plans, including free tiers and paid subscriptions, and providers publish those
prices on their API pages. The enterprise hub is sold through Nokia.
