Naked Labs was a consumer hardware startup that made what it called the world’s
first home body scanner. The Naked 3D Fitness Tracker combined a full-length mirror
fitted with depth sensors and a scale that slowly rotated the user through 360 degrees.
Retail Dive reported in 2018 that the mirror used Intel RealSense depth sensors
with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and that a 15-second scan measured body fat, lean mass
and other metrics. A companion phone app built a grey 3D model of the user’s body
and let them compare scans over time to see where they had lost fat or gained muscle.
The Hustle reported that each scan captured about 4 million infrared data points
and that the app offered goals, training plans and coaching.

In August 2018 Naked Labs announced a $14 million Series A led by Founders Fund,
with NEA, Lumia Capital, Venture 51, Seabed VC and others, Retail Dive reported.
At the time the scanner cost $1,395; pre-order customers were receiving units and
general availability was planned for the fourth quarter of 2018. Ed Sclater was
named as co-founder and chief operating officer.

**Naked Labs has shut down.** Its website now shows a notice saying its services
were no longer available as of 31 October 2023, and thanking customers for their
support. Owners should not expect the company’s app or services to be supported.
People who want body-composition tracking today will need another device or service;
some options are listed below.

_This page is research, not a review. We never used a Naked scanner; facts come
from Naked Labs’ notice and the reporting under Sources._
