To get a job at Anthropic in 2026, apply directly to a specific role on its careers
page, lead your résumé with concrete work you have shipped or published, and prepare
for live interviews held over Google Meet. Anthropic says it cares about “what you
can do, not where you learned to do it”. Most roles are in San Francisco, New York,
Seattle, London and a handful of other hubs, and a small but growing team is now
hiring in Bengaluru and Mumbai.

_100Xfounder is an independent site. This guide is not official, and we are not
affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic. Always check details with the official
careers page and your recruiter._

## Key takeaways

 * Anthropic listed 639 open roles on its official job board on 4 October 2026.
Five of them were in India: three in Bangalore and two in Mumbai, all customer-
   facing.
 * Interviews happen on Google Meet. Technical candidates code live in tools such
as Colab and CodeSignal, and non-technical interviews are conversational.
 * Staff are expected in an office at least 25% of the time. Anthropic says it sponsors
visas for eligible roles but cannot do so for every role or candidate.
 * There are no internships. The Anthropic Fellows Program is the main early-career
route, and it is open only to people authorised to work in the US, UK or Canada.
 * If you are turned down, you can reapply after 12 months, or sooner if your experience
   has materially changed.

## Where Anthropic is hiring right now

We checked Anthropic’s public Greenhouse job board on 4 October 2026, which is the
same feed that powers its careers site. It listed 639 openings. Sales was the largest
group with 123 roles, followed by AI Research & Engineering (70), Finance (55),
Applied AI (54), Security (48), product engineering and design (46), infrastructure
software engineering (44) and Safeguards, its trust and safety team (43). There
were also smaller groups in compute, technical programme management, legal, policy,
marketing and people.

Most postings are tied to San Francisco, often paired with New York or Seattle.
Outside the US, London had 47 openings, followed by Tokyo (17), Seoul (13), Singapore(
12), Munich (10), Sydney (9), Dublin (7), Paris (5) and Zürich (4). Fifty-five postings
carry a “Remote-Friendly” tag. Most of these still name a hub city or say travel
is required, so they are not fully remote jobs in the usual sense.

### Anthropic in India

Anthropic said in October 2025 that it would open a Bengaluru office in early 2026,
its second in the Asia-Pacific region after Tokyo. At the time it said India ranked
second in the world for consumer use of Claude. In February 2026 the company announced
the office had opened. It is led by Irina Ghose, managing director for India, and
Anthropic said it would hire local talent across a broad range of roles.

So far, the India openings are commercial and technical-advisory roles rather than
research. On 4 October the five India postings were two Applied AI Architect roles(
Bangalore and Mumbai), an Applied AI Architect role on the partnerships team (Bangalore),
a Customer Success role (Bangalore) and an Enterprise Account Executive for banking,
financial services and insurance (Mumbai). The Bangalore Applied AI Architect posting
asks for 10 or more years in customer-facing technical roles such as solutions architect
or sales engineer, experience with large enterprise customers in India or Asia-Pacific,
and comfort with Python. If you want an engineering role in the city, check our
[engineering jobs in Bengaluru](https://100xfounder.com/jobs/engineering-jobs-in-bengaluru/)
list for alternatives while Anthropic’s local team grows.

## What Anthropic looks for

The “How we hire” section of Anthropic’s careers page is unusually direct. Four
points stand out.

 * **Evidence over credentials.** About half of its technical staff had no prior
machine learning experience, and about half have PhDs. Anthropic adds that some
strong colleagues never went to college. It asks candidates to put independent
research, a thoughtful blog post or open-source contributions at the top of the
   résumé.
 * **Engineers and researchers overlap.** Anthropic says engineers do a lot of research
and researchers do a lot of engineering. It advises people with an engineering
background to apply as engineers, because they will perform better in those interviews.
It also notes that all its papers have engineers as authors.
 * **Judgement in non-technical roles.** For policy, operations and business roles
it wants clarity, judgement and a real interest in the mission. It describes
these teams as small, and says people there shape how the company works.
 * **Fit with its principles.** The careers page lists seven principles, including“
Act for the global good”, “Do the simple thing that works” and “Put the mission
first”. You should be ready to explain why AI safety matters to you in your own
   words.

## The hiring process, step by step

Anthropic does not publish a fixed list of rounds for every role. The official material
and individual postings describe the stages below. Where a detail comes only from
candidates, we say so.

 1. **Apply to a specific role.** Applications go through the careers site. Anthropic’s
guidance on AI use asks you to write your first draft yourself and only then use
Claude, or another AI tool, to refine it.
 2. **Recruiter and hiring-manager conversations.** Candidate reports compiled by the
interview-prep site Aced describe an introductory recruiter screen, then a technical
screen of roughly 60 to 90 minutes, then a call with the hiring manager. These
are candidate accounts, not an official schedule.
 3. **Skills assessment.** For technical roles Anthropic uses live coding tools such
as Colab and CodeSignal. You can look things up during the interview, but it advises
being comfortable with basic syntax and standard libraries so you don’t waste time.
Some teams set a take-home (see below).
 4. **Final interviews.** All interviews are on Google Meet, and Anthropic says it
can work across time zones. According to candidate reports collected by Aced, the
software engineering final round usually has about five sessions covering coding,
system design, a project deep-dive or presentation, and culture and values. Expect
questions about your experience and motivation, and leave time for your own questions.
Anthropic calls the process a two-way conversation.
 5. **Offer.** Anthropic’s FAQ says you can take your time to decide and finish other
    interview processes first.

A few rules apply throughout. Anthropic does not give feedback on résumés or interviews.
Recruiters contact candidates only from @anthropic.com addresses and never ask for
money or bank details before your first day. AI assistance is not allowed in live
interviews unless you are told otherwise.

### The performance-engineering take-home

Anthropic’s engineering blog published a detailed account of one take-home test
in January 2026. Tristan Hume, who leads its performance optimisation team, wrote
that candidates optimise code for a simulated accelerator. More than 1,000 candidates
had taken the test, and dozens were hired through it. The current version has a
two-hour limit. Unusually, candidates may use AI tools on this test, as they would
at work, because Anthropic redesigned it after its own models began matching strong
human scores. The company also published an older version as an open challenge and
invited anyone who beats its best model score to email the performance recruiting
team with their code and résumé.

That is one team’s test, not a company-wide format. It does show the kind of problem
Anthropic values: unfamiliar systems, careful measurement and building your own
tools.

## Location, remote work and visas

Anthropic’s position is consistent across its careers page and job postings.

 * **Office time.** Every posting carries a “location-based hybrid policy”: staff
are currently expected to be in one of Anthropic’s offices at least 25% of the
time, and some roles need more.
 * **Remote.** The careers FAQ says most staff are in the Bay Area and come to the
office regularly. Some live further away and come in for one week a month. Anthropic
says it can be flexible for a while if you are relocating.
 * **Visas.** Anthropic says it sponsors visas and green cards for eligible roles.
Postings add that it cannot sponsor every role and candidate, but that if it
makes an offer it will make every reasonable effort to get a visa and retains
   an immigration lawyer to help.

Immigration rules change, and they depend on your situation. Confirm the details
with Anthropic’s recruiters and a qualified immigration adviser before you make
plans.

## Pay and benefits

US postings show a pay range. For example, a Software Engineer posting on the Beneficial
Deployments team listed an annual salary of $320,000 to $405,000 when we checked.
For sales roles, the range shown is on-target earnings, meaning base salary plus
target commission. We found no published pay ranges for the India roles, so we don’t
quote any. If you get an Indian offer, our [in-hand salary calculator](https://100xfounder.com/tools/in-hand-salary-calculator/)
estimates monthly take-home pay from the [CTC](https://100xfounder.com/in-hand-salary-from-ctc/)(
cost to company, the total annual package Indian employers quote).

The careers page lists health, dental and vision cover for employees and dependants,
22 weeks of paid parental leave, flexible time off, equity, optional 1:1 matching
of equity donations up to 25% of the grant, a $500 monthly wellness and “time saver”
stipend, an education stipend, home office stipends and relocation support. Benefits
differ by country, so check the details for your location with your recruiter.

## Early-career routes: the Fellows Program

Anthropic’s FAQ says plainly that it does not currently offer internships. The closest
route is the Anthropic Fellows Program. Postings for it were live on 4 October 2026,
with applications reviewed on a rolling basis for a cohort expected to start in
January 2027.

 * Fellows do four months of full-time empirical research with mentors from Anthropic,
aiming for a public output such as a paper.
 * The posting lists a weekly stipend of $3,850 (or £2,310, or C$4,300) plus about
$15,000 a month in compute funding.
 * You need work authorisation in the US, UK or Canada and must be in that country
during the programme. Anthropic does not sponsor visas for fellows.
 * Full-time offers are not guaranteed. Anthropic says 25% to 50% of fellows in
   earlier cohorts received one.

For most students in India, this means the realistic path is to build a strong public
record first: research, open-source work, writing. Then apply to full-time roles,
or to the India team as it grows.

## How to stand out

 * **Lead with artefacts.** Put links to papers, repos, writing or shipped products
in the first lines of your résumé, as Anthropic itself suggests.
 * **Apply for one or two roles you fit.** The board is large, and a focused application
that matches a posting’s listed requirements reads better than many scattered
   ones.
 * **Practise live coding without AI.** Get fluent in Python and its standard library,
and practise in a browser notebook so the Colab or CodeSignal setup doesn’t slow
   you down.
 * **Read the guidance on AI use.** Draft your answers yourself, be open about any
AI help, and follow the rules for each stage.
 * **Know the mission and the products.** Read the company’s principles and recent
research and news posts. For India roles, read the Bengaluru announcement and
its named partners so you can talk about local customers.
 * **Watch for scams.** Ignore any “Anthropic recruiter” who writes from another
   domain or asks for payment.

## Bottom line

Anthropic is hiring at scale, but it hires for demonstrated ability and judgement,
not pedigree. For Indian candidates, the open doors in late 2026 are senior customer-
facing roles in Bangalore and Mumbai. Engineering and research roles are concentrated
in the US, London and a few other hubs, and they come with visa support that is
offered on a case-by-case basis. Build visible work, apply narrowly, and prepare
for live problem-solving.
