Bengaluru-based agritech company BigHaat raised $10 million (about ₹83 crore) in
February 2026 in a round led by Bidra Innovation Ventures, the US-based venture
arm of Moroccan phosphate and fertiliser group OCP, according to [Entrackr](https://entrackr.com/news/bighaat-raises-10-mn-led-by-ocp-groups-arm-bidra-innovation-11096310).
Existing investors JM Financial and Ashish Kacholia also invested.

BigHaat sells seeds, fertilisers and crop-protection products to farmers online
and buys produce such as spices from them. It says it will use the money to expand
that farmer network and build a traceable food supply chain that meets export standards.
This article covers the round, BigHaat’s business and finances, and what a fertiliser
giant gets from backing an Indian farm marketplace.

## Key takeaways

 * The $10 million round, announced on 11 and 12 February 2026, was led by Bidra
Innovation Ventures, backed by OCP Group, with JM Financial and Ashish Kacholia
   following on.
 * BigHaat crossed about ₹1,100 crore of revenue in FY25 (the year to March 2025),
up from about ₹1,050 crore, and cut its net loss to ₹25 crore, according to [Entrackr](https://entrackr.com/exclusive/exclusive-bighaat-crosses-rs-1100-cr-revenue-in-fy25-turns-ebitda-profitable-9755082).
 * About 85% of revenue comes from selling farm produce, not from farm inputs or
   digital services.
 * The company told [AgFunder News](https://agfundernews.com/bighaat-unveils-global-expansion-plan-1bn-annual-revenue-goal-as-it-edges-towards-profitability)
it aims for $1 billion in annual revenue within five years, starting with spice
   sourcing in Africa.

## The round

Bidra Innovation Ventures led the $10 million round, and existing backers JM Financial
and Ashish Kacholia took part, Entrackr reported on 11 February. [Entrepreneur India](https://india.entrepreneur.com/news-and-trends/agritech-platform-bighaat-secures-usd-10-mn-from-bidra/502643)
put the round at about ₹83 crore. The valuation was not disclosed.

The round followed a smaller top-up three months earlier. In November 2025, BigHaat
raised ₹37 crore in an extension of its Series C, its first fundraise in more than
a year, according to [Entrackr](https://entrackr.com/exclusive/exclusive-bighaat-to-top-up-series-c-led-by-jm-financial-10783943).
JM Financial put in ₹15 crore, and Ashish Kacholia and Suresh Kumar Agarwal ₹10
crore each. Before that, BigHaat’s main round was ₹100 crore led by JM Financial
in January 2022. Earlier investors include Beyond Next Ventures and Ankur Capital.

Reported totals for all money raised vary. Entrackr put BigHaat’s total funding
at about ₹300 crore after the February round, while AgFunder News reported about
₹200 crore ($22 million) raised before it. Whichever figure is used, it is a fraction
of what larger rivals have raised: DeHaat has raised $270 million and AgroStar $
150 million, according to an [Entrackr analysis](https://entrackr.com/report/indias-agritech-at-inflection-point-funding-revival-profitable-models-and-consolidation-11036024).

### What the company and investor said

CEO Sateesh Nukala said the OCP partnership would help BigHaat bring advanced agricultural
solutions to Indian farmers, according to Entrackr. Yassine Cherkaoui, CEO of Bidra
Innovation Ventures, told AgFunder News that BigHaat’s backward-integration model,
which links the inputs farmers buy with the crops they sell, builds lasting connections
across the farm value chain.

## What BigHaat does

BigHaat was founded in 2015 and is based in Bengaluru, according to [its website](https://www.bighaat.com/pages/about-us),
which lists Sateesh Nukala (CEO), Sachin Nandwana and Kiran Vunnam as co-founders.
It describes itself as an agri digital platform covering the farming cycle from “
pre-harvest to post-harvest”.

AgFunder News described the business in three parts:

 * **Pre-harvest.** An online marketplace for farm inputs, with more than 400 brands
and about 10,000 products, including seeds, fertilisers, crop protection and
   equipment.
 * **Post-harvest.** AgroHaat, a platform for sourcing spices, grains and pulses
from farmers and selling them to buyers.
 * **Data.** Free crop advice for farmers, which generates what BigHaat says is
more than a million farm-level data records a day.

The company says nearly 3 million farmers use it each month. Its website also takes
orders by missed call and offers video content in English, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada
and Tamil.

## The financials

BigHaat’s revenue is large for an agritech startup, but most of it comes from trading
crops, a low-margin activity. According to Entrackr’s [August 2025 report](https://entrackr.com/exclusive/exclusive-bighaat-crosses-rs-1100-cr-revenue-in-fy25-turns-ebitda-profitable-9755082):

  | Metric | FY25 | FY24 |
   | Revenue | About ₹1,100 crore | About ₹1,050 crore |
 | Net loss | ₹25 crore | ₹35 crore |
 | Gross margin | 15% | n/a |
 | EBITDA | Positive in the last three quarters of FY25 | n/a |

About 85% of revenue came from selling farm produce, and agri-inputs plus digital
services made up the remaining 15%. Exports and advanced processing, a newer and
higher-margin line started in FY25, accounted for about 20% of monthly revenue,
Entrackr reported. The company set a revenue target of ₹1,400 crore for FY26.

BigHaat’s audited FY26 figures had not been published in the sources we could find
as of 4 October 2026, so we cannot say whether it met that target. In February,
it told AgFunder News it was close to EBITDA breakeven and expected to be fully
profitable in 2026.

## Why OCP is interested

OCP Group is a Moroccan state-owned phosphate miner and fertiliser producer, founded
in 1920, whose first mine was at Khouribga, according to [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OCP_Group).
Its OCP Africa unit operates in 16 African countries. Bidra says it is backed by
OCP, “steward of the world’s largest reserves of phosphate”, and by UM6P, a Moroccan
research university, according to [Bidra’s website](https://bidra.vc/). Bidra invests
in early and growth-stage companies in agriculture, industrials and mining.

For a fertiliser maker, a platform with millions of farmers is a way to reach growers
directly with crop nutrition products and advice, and to learn what they need. Nukala’s
comment about bringing “advanced agricultural solutions” to farmers points to that
route. For BigHaat, a strategic investor in plant nutrition with an existing African
business could help in Africa, the region where it plans to expand first.

## Expansion plans: spices and Africa

BigHaat told [AgFunder News](https://agfundernews.com/bighaat-unveils-global-expansion-plan-1bn-annual-revenue-goal-as-it-edges-towards-profitability)
that it plans to:

 * keep expanding in India;
 * enter markets in Africa, starting with spices, and then Southeast Asia;
 * scale its input and market-linkage businesses;
 * earn money from its farm data platform; and
 * source more traceable spices, grains and pulses.

The headline goal is $1 billion in annual revenue within five years, from about
$121 million today, according to AgFunder News. That would require growth far faster
than the single-digit rise it reported in FY25, so the target depends heavily on
new markets and higher-value export products such as spices grown to international
food-safety standards.

Entrackr noted BigHaat’s focus on environmental practices, including carbon reduction
and integrated pest management (IPM), a method that limits chemical pesticide use.
Practices like these, combined with traceability, are what BigHaat is relying on
to sell spices to overseas buyers.

## The agritech funding climate

BigHaat raised money in a tough market. Indian agritech startups raised $160 million
in 2025, down 30% from $231 million in 2024 and far below the 2022 peak of $802
million, according to an [Entrackr analysis](https://entrackr.com/report/indias-agritech-at-inflection-point-funding-revival-profitable-models-and-consolidation-11036024)
published in January 2026. The same report listed DeHaat’s FY25 revenue at ₹3,010
crore and Ninjacart’s at ₹1,634 crore, down 19%, and noted the merger of Unnati
and Gramophone as a sign of consolidation.

In that climate, investors favour agritech companies that are near profitability
and have raised little capital relative to their revenue, which is how BigHaat presents
itself.

## Why it matters

BigHaat’s round is small, but it shows where agritech money is going in 2026: towards
companies with real revenue, a path to profit and a strategic partner, rather than
towards fast growth funded by losses. The OCP link also shows how a global fertiliser
group can use an Indian platform to reach smallholder farmers directly.

The open questions are whether BigHaat hit its ₹1,400 crore FY26 target, whether
it reached full profitability, and how quickly the African spice business grows.
